Dr. Shankar Venkataraman is the Business Development Manager at Schmidt + Clemens Group (Lindlar, Germany).

He is a metallurgist and holds a doctorate from the University of Technology in Dresden, Germany. He has experience in the application engineering of heat resistant and corrosion resistant high alloy castings for various industrial applications and has authored more than 30 publications. Dr. Shankar Venkataraman is also a steering committee member with Stainless Steel World, Duplex World global conferences and is a professional member of NACE and AISTECH.

Components used in fossil fuel as well as renewable source-based power generation systems offer a significant metallic material selection challenge due to the extreme nature of possible corrosive environments.

Structural materials with improved high temperature properties such as creep resistance and oxidation resistance are required. Stringent environmental laws necessitate the use of flue gas desulphurization systems which necessitate usage of metallic materials resistant to aqueous corrosion.

This webinar shall focus on the cast components, their metallurgy and manufacturing practice as well as the attainable functional properties and provide material selection guidelines.
